General Notes: Husband - Jacob Porch
He was born on the old Porch homestead, and continued to reside there until he had completed the age of twenty-three years, at which time he was married, when he at once left home and purchased a farm which was later the possession of James A. Porch. Jacob Porch built two houses and two barns on this property, and besides the regular farming operations ran a saw mill there for ten years. Sometime afterwards he bought the farm which was later the possession of his son, William Kilgore Porch, but he did not make his home there. He was a prominent man in the community, and served in several local offices including that of member of the School Board and that of tax collector. He was a Republican in politics.
He was a soldier in the Civil War. He enlisted in Company I, One Hundred and Sixty-eight Pennsylvania Regiment of Volunteers, and served for nine months under Captain James Hutchinson.
