General Notes: Husband - William Davidson
In 1798 he came from Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, to Irwin Township, Venango County, and secured a four hundred acre tract. He was of Irish extraction. He and his son, Patrick, were members of Captain Hugh McManigal's company that went to the defense of Erie in 1813. He was one of the original members of Amity Presbyterian church and an elder for many years. He was also one of the early constables and while serving a warrant of arrest upon a man by the name of Scott, the latter shot and killed him. [HVC 1890, 526]
In the year 1825, a murder was committed near the mouth of Big Scrubgrass creek under the following circumstances. Robert Scott, a citizen of Irwin township, in passing up the creek from Squire Witherup's met William Davidson, also a citizen of Irwin township. Scott, without any provocation or apparent reason, shot Davidson. He was afterward acquitted on the plea of insanity. [HVC 1879, 643]
