General Notes: Husband - John McDonald
He was a native of Inverness, Scotland, and came to America at the age of ten years, his parents having preceded him some years. [HBC 1888, 867] They located in Greene township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, on what was known as the Thomas Morris farm, later owned by Ramsey Brothers. He was a native of Beaver County, Pennsylvania. [CBRWC, 372]
He was a successful, energetic farmer; a member of the United Presbyterian church; in politics a Republican.
He came from Scotland in 1801 when he was seven years old along with four sisters and his mother, who died upon shipboard during the long voyage. [AKCWF, 105]
General Notes: Wife - Margaret Barclay
She resided in Washington County, Pennsylvania, prior to her marriage, after which they settled in Beaver County. She used to make annual visits to her old home, doing the journey of forty miles on horseback, and carrying a child in her arms. Hotels in those days were few and far between.
