General Notes: Husband - James Ralston Love
He was born on the old family homestead farm, and received his education in the local district schools. He continued to live with his father and work on his farm until his marriage, after which he went to the old Thomas McCoy place, which he operated until after his son, Joseph Caldwell Love, was born. He then returned to the old homestead, which he and two of his brothers had purchased and he came into possession of that part of the farm which was situated on the hill. This he operated successfully until his death.
He enlisted in Company I, Two Hundred and Eleventh Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served during the Civil War under Captain John W. Graham. While serving during the last year of the war, he was taken ill with typhoid fever and was consequently discharged before the end of the conflict. During his young manhood, before the war, he was a Democrat in his political beliefs, but was converted to Republicanism and continued to be a staunch advocate of that party until his death. He was a Presbyterian in religion and attended the church of this denomination in Fairfield. His death was the result of an accident received in handling a young colt which kicked him.
