General Notes: Husband - James Ralston Love, Jr.

He was born in Fairfield township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in the old house built by his grandfather. His education was received in the Fort Palmer schools in Fairfield township, and after completing his studies he worked with his father on the latter's farm until he had reached the age of twenty years. He was then apprenticed to Emmet Lucas, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, with whom he learned the carpenter's trade. He remained with Mr. Lucas until the year 1881, and during that time worked on some important buildings at Johnstown. Mr. Lucas was the architect for the school board of Johnstown and did a large business in that region. In 1881, however, Mr. Love entered the employ of J. J. Strayer, a former partner of Mr. Lucas, and continued to work for him for ten years. In the year 1898 Mr. Love returned to Fairfield township and once more took up farming, carrying on his operations on the old homestead farm for upwards of three years. He then rented Hazel farm in Ligonier township for four years, and the four years following, rented the John Lytle farm in the same region. The last farm rented by Mr. Love was the old General St. Clair farm, where he remained for six years, and he then purchased of Samuel Knoll a property of forty-two acres which he then operated. On December 3, 1915, he also bought his father's farm from the estate of Joseph C. Love, and carried on general farming there also.
He was a Presbyterian in his religious belief and attended the first church of that denomination at Ligonier. He was active in church work and was a member of the Bible class there. In politics he was a Republican.
