General Notes: Husband - David Wilt
He was about seventeen years of age when his family left Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and came to Ligonier, Westmoreland County. As a youth he worked for his father on the latter's farm in Somerset County, but later became the driver of the stage coach between Pittsburgh and Chambersburg. This task continued to occupy him for many years, but he eventually retired and entered the wagon-making business at Ligonier, where he had a shop of his own.
He was a staunch Republican in politics, and held many important offices in the region. He was for four years county commissioner, county auditor for five years, mercantile appraiser two years, judge of elections for twenty-five years and continued to hold this office up to the last election before his death. He was a prominent Mason and was past master of Ligonier Lodge, No. 331, Free and Accepted Masons. In his religious belief Mr. Wilt was a Methodist and attended the Methodist Episcopal church at Ligonier. He was a prominent member of the congregation, and was a trustee of the church and a teacher in the Sunday school. After his retirement from active life he was elected teacher emeritus by the church.
Notes: Marriage
The source gives the year of their marriage as 1841, but this seems unlikely.
