General Notes: Husband - Peter Smail

---

He was born in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. He took an oath of allegiance to Pennsylvania in 1778. Two years later he enrolled in the militia at Chestnuthill Township in Northampton County. His tombstone in the German Cemetery, Greensburg, Pennsylvania, states that he was a soldier in the American Revolution. He left eastern Pennsylvania for Westmoreland County around 1800. In 1801 he bought his father's farm at a sheriff's sale and lived there until his death.
