Mrs. Sarah Ziegler.
Funeral services in memory of Mrs. Sarah Ziegler will be held Saturday afternoon at Mt. Zion church, Maple Shade, and interment will be made in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Ziegler, whose death was announced in yesterday's News-Herald, was born February 9, 1828, in Union county, the youngest of 15 children born to Tobias and Catherine Miller. When she was three years of age her parents removed to Venango county and Mrs. Ziegler had been a resident of the county since that time. In 1849 she was united in marriage to J. D. Ziegler, a carpenter, at Maple Shade and the family resided there until about 15 years ago when Mrs. Ziegler removed with her daughter, Mrs. W. B. Shaffer, to Ten Mile Bottom. They removed to this city a year ago. Mr. Ziegler died at Maple Shade in 1895.
Surviving are the following children: J. F. Ziegler, of Cranberry, G. H. Ziegler, Beaver; Mrs. Lorena Hoot, Oil City; Mrs. Priscilla Heath, South Hammond, N. Y.; William Ziegler, Oil City; D. E. Ziegler, Erie; Mrs. Annetta Shaffer, Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. Lovena Shaffer, Oil City. Thirty-four grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Ziegler was a good Christian woman and was loved by all who knew her for her kind and friendly manner and her willingness to assist any one in trouble. She was one of the county's oldest residents, both in age and point of residence and her death, while not unexpected as she had been in failing health for the past couple of years, is deeply felt by a wide circle of friends.
