General Notes: Husband - Henry Hartman

His father settled in the Ligonier valley of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, prior to the Revolutionary War.

He was a farmer and undertaker. He made his coffins and used a heavy wagon to carry the dead to their last resting place.

He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian church in which he, and also his son Samuel, held the office of elder.

He was a native of Germany, and came from that country to the United States in the early part of the nineteenth century. He settled in Fairfield township, and became one of the first farmers in that region. [ONW, 946]
