General Notes: Husband - Edgar Cowan Hartman

He spent but the first three years of his life in his native place. At that time his father came to Ligonier, Pennsylvania, and three years later bought the a farm upon which his son, Edgar Cowan Hartman, later lived. It was there that most of his childhood was spent, and during that time he gained his education at the Hamill School. After his father's death, he remained on the homestead and purchased the shares of the other heirs. His property comprised one hundred and twenty-eight acres, most of which was cleared of wood and there he carried on general farming and stock-raising. He also interested himself in the development of certain business propositions there, and was at one time president of the Fairfield Rural Telephone Company, which operated between Ligonier and Bolivar.
He was a staunch Republican, and held the position of school director.
