General Notes: Husband - Timothy Buell, Jr.

His older brother, William Buell, migrated from Connecticut to Canada as early as 1775, when he was twenty-three years of age. It is stated that his younger brother, Timothy Buell, Jr., accompanied him there, though he was but fifteen years of age. However this may be, he must have returned about 1779 for in that year it was that he migrated to western Pennsylvania and settled in what was then the little village of Greensburg, Westmoreland County. There is, however, evidence of a different nature which would lead to the conclusion that Timothy, Jr., accompanied his father to Canada in 1781 and did not return until the death of the latter in 1789. The whole matter is somewhat in doubt, but we have at least assurance that he married Catherine Colyan or Colyar in the latter year. It was sometime in the decade between 1779 and 1789 that Timothy Buell, Jr., came to Westmoreland County.
