He passed his childhood and early youth on his father's farm. For his education he attended the common schools of Unity township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He had a strong liking for the rural life, and accordingly, after completing his studies in the local schools, he engaged in general farming and stock raising. He continued thus engaged for upwards of twenty years, then removed to Latrobe, engaged in grocery business for short time, afterward living retired. Like his ancestors, Mr. Brindle was a staunch member of the Reformed church, attending the church of that denomination in Latrobe.
