He was educated at Trinity college, Hartford, Connecticut, from which he graduated in 1887. After this period he took a course in architecture at Columbia college, New York. After his return from college he spent three years with D. Knox Miller, in Pittsburgh, as architect. After his severance with D. K. Miller he resided in his native town.
He was appointed by Governor Stone as justice of the peace, and acted as burgess of Brownsville.
