General Notes: Husband - George Muir

He was born in Scotland, and was a miner by occupation. He emigrated to the United States, and soon after his arrival settled in Bolivar, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he became the owner of a large farm upon which there was a coal mine. His political allegiance was given first to the Whigs and later to the Republicans. He was a member of the Church of Christ in which he held, at different times, all the offices.
