General Notes: Husband - Jonas Peter Miller
Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA
He was proprietor of a successful dairy farm at Youngwood Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, situated about five miles southwest of Greensburg, and two miles west of Youngwood Village.
He passed the early portion of his life in his father's home, and in the year 1885, when about thirty years of age, he began to run the old home farm. He had already, as a child and youth, gained his education at the local public school, and had also thoroughly learned all the duties connected with farming. Under his supervision the farm rapidly grew in value and fertility. He devoted his farm particularly to producing milk and butter and possessed a fine herd of Holstein cattle which he used for that purpose. He exhibited at many fairs and his products always maintain themselves favorably against all competitors. He conducted a large dairy business at Youngwood, and was very well known in that line of business throughout the community.
He was particularly active in church work and was affiliated with the Reformed church at Seanor, Pennsylvania. For forty years or more he was very active in his support of the philanthropic work of that church and also as a Sunday school worker there. He particularly interested himself in the work among the young people.
