Isaac S. Gadsby, who was born Feb. 18, 1848, died on Dec. 3, 1918. He was first married to Nancy Cook, who bore him nine children, five of whom died in infancy. He was married second on Sept. 6, 1885 to Miss Melissa BAKER, who bore him nine children. Buried Gadsby Cemetery, Mineral Township

Mrs. Melissa Baker Gadsby, eldest daughter of Lewis and Matilda Welton Baker, was born near Pearl, Pa., on September 12, 1863, and departed this life on Sept. 10, aged 64 years, 11 months and 28 days.
Her death rresulted from a stroke of paralysis, which occurred several days subsequent to an operation for goiter. The body was removed from Mercer hospital Monday afternoon to the home near Kilgore where the funeral services were conducted on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rv. N. R. Nicholson, pastor of Irwin Presbyterian church and Rev. Carey Stewart, a retired minister. Singers were Prof. M. L. Beach and daughter, Mrs. Delbert Jack.
The large number of friends present and the many beautiful floral offerings attested the esteem with which the deceased was held in the community in which she spent practically all of her life. She had been a member of the Congress Hill Church of God since girlhood and a number from there were present to pay their tribute of respect.
Left to mourn the loss of a devoted mother are her nine children, Milton Gadsby, Mrs. Ethel Amon, of Hendersonville; Charles Gadsby, of Meadville, Pa.; Mrs. Mae Sopred, of Raymilton; Louis Gadsby, of Sandy Lake; Rufus B. Gadsby, Utica; Carl Gadsby, Wesley, Howard and Merle, at home. Four step-children, L. O.Gadsby, Clark's Mills; Mrs. Allie Dick, Hendersonville; Clyde M. Gadsby, of Niles, Pa.; Mrs. Verna Vogan, of Sandy Lake, Pa.; also 21 grandchildren and one great grand child. Two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Ewing of Franklin, Pa.; Mrs. Charles Laidlaw, Toledo, O.; and one brother, William [obituary copy transcribed may be incomplete.]
