He received a good common school education; both he and wife were members of the Presbyterian Church, and he was a Republican. [HMC 1888, 885]
In 1814 he removed from Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and settled in Hickory Township, Mercer County, on the McBride tract. [HMC 1888, 869]
They located in Hickory Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, in about 1818, on a farm of about 200 acres, known as the McBride farm. [HMC 1888, 885]
