He received his education at the common schools. After marriage, he and his wife located on a farm of fifty acres, purchased of the Rev. John Armstrong, in Lackawannock Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. He was a Republican, and with his wife belonged to the United Presbyterian Church. [HMC 1888, 885]
