General Notes: Husband - John Love

He was educated in the district schools of Hickory Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, and he lived at home until he was twenty-one years of age, when he located at West Middlesex and spent four years in mastering the black-smith's trade. He then established a blacksmith and wagon shop at Hickory Corners, which he successfully conducted for some ten years, and then founded a lumber business embracing as its main centers Greenfield, Middlesex, Hogback and Bethel. Another profitable decade passed in this field, after which for many years he engaged in farming in Hickory Township. His ventures had been so uniformly successful that Mr. Love then retired to Sharon to enjoy the evening of his life in that pretty and progressive little town. He served for a number of years as school director of the township, but, except as a good citizen, had not otherwise concerned himself in local public affairs. In politics he was a Republican, and his religious faith was Presbyterianism. [HMC 1909, 622]
