General Notes: Husband - David Landis
He was born in York County, Pennsylvania, and in 1814 went to Westmoreland County with his parents. He followed the occupations of farming and carpentering. He was a man who took a very active interest in public affairs and was held in high regard by his neighbors. He served two terms as overseer of the poor. He was the type of Democrat popularly known as Jacksonian, and was prominent in local political circles. In matters of religion he adhered to the Lutheran church, in which he served as an officer.
