General Notes: Husband - Mathew Hunter
He was known for a radius of many miles from his home as a most kindly and genial man, a loyal friend and a good neighbor. He was modest in manner, loyal in every duty and faithful even unto the slightest obligation, and, trained in the school of the pioneers, he was hardy, self-reliant and industrious. So liberally and so cordially was his hospitality exercised that his home was known in the Hunter families and to all the settlers in its vicinity as "The Hotel."
After his father's death he continued on the old family homestead. There he farmed and lumbered as his father had done before him. He had a family of ten children.
He died March 30, 1845. [GGSOPF, 243]
