General Notes: Husband - Andrew Jackson Suter
He resided on the old family homestead situated in East Huntingdon township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, two miles southwest of Ruffs Dale. Mr. Suter remodeled the old farm, having put on a new roof, etc. Here he carried on general farming operations. His farm, fertile on the surface, was underlaid by very valuable coal deposits, the well-known Freeport vein lying about seven feet deep, while the Pittsburgh vein ran between this and the surface. Although Mr. Suter was keenly interested in political matters generally and with local affairs in particular, and although he was a staunch supporter of the principles and policies of the Democratic party all his life, he was nevertheless quite unambitious for any personal advantage in that direction and consistently avoided all public office. He found his chief pleasure in the life of the farm and had no ambition to make a name for himself in any line save that of his chosen occupation. Mr. Suter was baptized in the Zion Lutheran Church, and he and his family were all lifelong members thereof. He found his most delightful recreation in outdoor sports and pastimes and was particularly fond of hunting and fishing, tastes which he apparently inherited from his grandfather.
