General Notes: Husband - H. Elias Hoke

He was educated in the schools of his native town, and learned the tinning trade with his father. He came to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, about 1856, where he went into the dry-goods business with his brother Jacob, in which he continued until his death. He was for many years a member of the Methodist Church, and was a fine Bible scholar. Few men in Franklin County were as well posted on public questions, and he was a stanch Republican.
