General Notes: Husband - Andrew Gehr
He was born in Germany, learned the trade of a weaver, and when a young man emigrated to the United States, coming to Pennsylvania, settling at West Newton, near Ruffs Dale, where he had a friend. Later he lived at Byron Run and Paintersville (later New Stanton). He also lived two miles east of Greensburg, where he had a farm of one hundred and six acres. Before settling there he was variously employed, but lived some twenty-five years on the farm, at the end of that time removing to Greensburg, where he passed the remaining years of his life. Soon after coming to America Mr. Gehr was employed by the Ruff family, in whose household he met Barbara Gehring, who had come from his own neighborhood in Germany, but whom he had not previously met.
