General Notes: Husband - Homer D. Stough

It was in the public schools of Donegal township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, that he received his early educational training, and where he practically gained all the education and schooling of his career. He then returned to his father's farm, helping the older gentleman in whatever duties a lad of his age might be able to cope with. He remained with his father until he was eighteen years of age, and then served an apprenticeship to the baking trade. The compensation which he received as an apprentice was very meagre, but the young man, through careful saving, accumulated enough money to realize his ambition, namely, that of starting a business of his own. This he did at Jeannette, Pennsylvania, where he opened a baking establishment, and where he continued successfully for some time. He later sold out this business and came to Pleasant Unity, where he purchased another business of the same order, and again sold this in turn and subsequently came to Scottdale, Pennsylvania, where he entered the employ of Mrs. George Fry, as head baker for this lady in her baking establishment. He worked for Mrs. Fry for a time, and then founded his own bakery on Broadway, Scottdale.
