General Notes: Husband - Bert C. Ambrose

He was born in Ligonier township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and educated in the schools of his birthplace. He assisted his father in the labors of the farm, remaining at home until his nineteenth year. Nearly all his life he was a worker in wood, first as a turner in Ligonier, and then spending some time with the firm of Segur Brothers in the lumber forests. For about three years he was carpenter at the Port Palmer coal works. About 1898 Mr. Ambrose came to Ligonier, but it was not until October 1, 1914, that he established himself in business as a baker on North Market street.
In local affairs Mr. Ambrose took an active interest, voting with the Republicans. He held the office of school director, also serving as secretary of the board. He affiliated with Ligonier Lodge, No. 331, Free and Accepted Masons, and Ligonier Lodge, No. 964, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, also with the Encampment. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.

From 1907 to 1915 he was chief of the fire department, and he was a member of George S. Kempell Club of Masons of Ligonier.
