General Notes: Husband - Mark Kelso

The Kelso family are of Irish descent, and after his marriage he came to a farm in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where he remained for some time, and in 1818 bought an improved farm, which became his permanent home. His wife died many years before him.

The place of his birth was Cumberland, Maryland. He was of medium height and of sandy complexion and had all his life been a farmer. "When well advanced in years he received an injury while putting a bridle on a beast that had a fashion of jerking up its head. He slipped and fell, his thigh striking upon a half bushel measure, breaking the hip joint." He was thereafter confined to his chair and to the use of crutches.
