General Notes: Husband - Johan Nicholas Scholl

His father was a native of Germany and immigrated to America in the latter part of the sixteenth or first part of the seventeenth century, settling in Virginia. He later removed to Bethlehem, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, where he died. He was a farmer and miller.

He was born in Germany, and emigrated to the American colonies, settling in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Twelve miles above Bethlehem he built a grist mill which remained in the family for generations.

He was born in Europe, probably in the Rhein valley, and came with his father in the ship "Loyal Judith" to Philadelphia, September 3, 1739, too young to require registry.
Sometime after 1772 he bought a tract of 70 acres in Moore township and became farmer and grist-miller. He was taxed there on 70 acres, 2 horses, 3 cows, in 1785, 1786, 1788.
He was in the First Company of the Third Battalion of Northampton county Militia commanded by Lieut. Col. Nicholas Kern in 1780. He was a private of the seventh class of the same company, recorded as Nicholas Shull, in 1781, 1782 (v. Penn. Arch., Fifth Set, Vol. VIII, pp. 246, 260, 267, 279). He was also the Nicholas Shull of Northampton county who paid a fine of 40 pounds for non-attendance at Militia Drill in 1780.

General Notes: Wife - Johanna Magdalena Ehro

A well-preserved legend in the family declares that she was of French origin, and one may guess that the family name was originally Herault or Heureux, or something similar.
