General Notes: Husband - George W. Weddell

He was engaged as miller in the W. M. company until 1850, when he bought the old Weddell homestead in Elizabeth, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, remaining there until 1860, when he sold, and purchased a farm in Versailles township.

For a short time he lived in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, after his marriage, running a grist mill at Possum Hollow. He then rented a farm of about eighty acres in Elizabeth township, Allegheny County, which he later bought, but soon sold. He removed to Versailles township, March 22, 1860, and purchased a farm of one hundred and forty-five acres. The only buildings on it were a log house, and a barn in poor condition, and it was covered with the graves of Indians. In 1870 he erected a fine brick residence, which is still occupied, also a number of other buildings, and made many improvements on the place. He was engaged in general farming until his death. He was a staunch Republican, and served his community in a number of local offices. He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian Church.
