General Notes: Husband - William Adams Donaldson

Franklin Evening News 15 Jan 1915 Nickleville News
Bertha Weaver Jan 11.
WILLIAM ADAMS DONALDSON died Jan 4th, at 9:15 a.m. He was the son of John and Nancy Adams Donaldson, who moved to Richland township, Venango county, from Rockland township in 1822, and was aged 95 years, two months and 11 days. In 1842 he was married to Miss Sarah Hall, after which they made their home near Franklin for a time then removed to Rockland, where they remained until 1858, when they returned to the old Donaldson farm near Nickleville, where they spent the remaining years of their lives. Mrs. Donaldson died Aug. 18, 1891. There were born to them eight children. Those who reached years of maturity were Dr. Cyrus Donaldson, a physician in northwestern Iowa, who died in 1879; Heber Donaldson, who practiced law for several years in this county, then removed to Hagerstown, Md., where he died in 1909. Of the surviving members of the family John H. and Miss Juliet are still living on the old farm; Dr. Newton Donaldson, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Huntington, W. Va., for the last twenty-one years; Miss Elma, who has been a missionary in India, under the Presbyterian Board more than twenty-five years, she returning to America this summer on account of the feeble health of her father and was with him at the time of his death. He became a Christian in Rockland and became an elder in that church. When he came here he united with this church and served as an elder for some years. For a number of years he had been unable to leave his home because of feebleness of body, but continued to worship God in his home, where daily family worship has been held all these years. He was a well-read man and a great conversationalist and enjoyed his clearness of mind until a short time before he died. His daughter Juliet, deserves mention for the kind, untiring care she has given her father during his many feeble years. He is also survived by one brother, Samuel Donaldson, of this place. Services were held Wednesday afternoon by our pastor, Rev. Morrow. Interment is in this cemetery.
