County Woman, Missionary for 37 Years, Dies
Emlenton, July 19.-(Special)-­Elma Donaldson, 83, who spent nearly half of her life in India as a missionary, died at 1:30 a. m. today, at the home of her nephew, Austin J. Donaldson, near here.
The deceased was born in Rockland township on April 1, 1856 and when two years old she moved with her parents to the Donaldson farm near here, where she resided until she went to India in 1889.
She served as a teacher in the girl's high school of Dehra Dun, India, for seven years and was principal of the school for 30 years. Miss Donaldson also served under the board of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian church.
On April 1, 1926 she retired and moved to Nickleville to make her home. Several weeks ago she re­moved to the home of her nephew, where she died.
Nieces and nephews of Miss Don­aldson are: Rev. Dwight W. Don­aldson, Ph. D., D. D., of Mished, Iran; Mary L. Donaldson, mission­ary of Tsinan, Shantung, China; Roy Donaldson, Larchmont, N. Y.; Mrs. S. J. Cox, Franklin; Mrs. James LeVier, Bayonne, N. J.; Ernest Donaldson, J. Archie Donaldson and Austin J. Donaldson, Emlenton.
Funeral services will he held at 2 p. m. Friday at the Nickleville church.
