James P. Runnin-ger, who died Sunday at his home in Utica, was born on a farm near Niles January 21, 1828. His father, Jacob Runninger, was one of the pioneer settlers of Venango County. Left an orphan at an early age, his boyhood was one of struggle. Four brothers and one sister are all deceased. In 1853, he was married to Sarah Cram. To this union were born six daughters and one son. Four daughters of his family survive. His wife died in 1901. He leaves eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. In 1899, he united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he was always a loyal member. Of a kind disposition, he won many friends. The memory of his loving patience during the years of infirmity will be cherished by his children and others who knew him well. The funeral will be held from his late home at 2:30 o'clock on Tuesday. Interment in the Millcreek Cemetery.

Runninger, Mrs., died Friday, Sarah Runninger, wife of James Runninger. She lived near Bodine's Corners. She was in her 75th year. She is survived by her aged husband and the following children: Mrs. Myers Bunnell of Sugarcreek; Mrs. Maggie Craig; Mrs. Archie McMurray of Mercer County; and Miss Susie and Miss Belle, at home. Interment in Millcreek Cemetery."
Another obituary says she "died in great peace after years of feeble health and suffering".
