General Notes: Husband - Samuel Potter Brown

He received his education in the local public school, which he attended until he attained the age of eighteen years, when he entered Washington & Jefferson College at Washington, Pennsylvania. Upon completing his studies at this institution, he returned at once to Greensburg and began his business career as a clerk in a drug store, which was founded here by his father, in the year 1859, and he continued in a clerical capacity until the year 1890, when, upon his father's death, he assumed control of the business. From its start this business was successful, but it has grew with phenomenal speed after it passed into the management of Mr. Brown.
Mr. Brown also interested himself vitally in the public affairs of Greensburg. He was a Democrat in politics and served for seven years on the Greensburg School Board. He was also a Free Mason and a member of the local lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. In his religious belief he was a Presbyterian and attended the First Church in the city of Greensburg.

He and his wife had three children who died in infancy.
