General Notes: Husband - David Whitehill

He was born in 1805. [GPHAV, 549]
He came to Venango, now Clarion County, Pennsylvania, in the spring of 1816, and made his home with his parents on a farm near where Edenburg now stands. February 26, 1833, he bought a farm on the Franklin pike from H. L. Hidecooper, agent for the Holland Land Co. He married and settled on his farm, where all his children were born. He was engaged in lumber and boat building on the Clarion river at Cooksburg and other points until 1859, when he purchased a large tract of timber land and saw mill from Elder & Wilson, at the mouth of Deer creek, on the Clarion river, where he moved his family and was engaged in boat building and freight carrying for the Pittsburgh market until about 1876, when he retired from active business life and in 1878 moved to his old home farm on the Franklin pike to enjoy life in his old age. July 2, 1881, he was stricken down with paralysis and died. He had advanced religious ideas, not understood in his day. [GPHAV, 1045]
