General Notes: Husband - James Alexander
He was born on Spring Run, in central Pennsylvania. Though trained by his father in the occupation of a farmer, a restless energy and spirit of enterprise led him to spend a large portion of his life in the pursuits of merchandizing and trading. In these he had many struggles and vicissitudes; but his business tact, good management, and indomitable energy and perseverance were rewarded with a gratifying measure of success. He became the proprietor of large and valuable tracts of land in Kishacoquillas Valley, Pennsylvania, and in Illinois, and Virginia.
He established his family on the old homestead of his uncle John Alexander, on that portion of his grandfather's tract of 1755, which included the site of Logan's Cabin and Logan's Springs. He maintained a habit of occasional relaxation for the enjoyment of hospitality, and of the exciting and healthful sports of the angler and hunter.
