General Notes: Husband - Scudder Hart Darragh
He was reared in Bridgewater, Pennsylvania, and attended the common school and the Beaver academy. His first work was as a clerk in a bank in Beaver. He then went on the river and ran a keel boat and steamboat. In 1849 he moved to California and remained two years. He then returned and continued the machine and foundry business which he had established before going to California. The title of the business at Bridgewater was M. & S. H. Darragh. The other was at Fallston, where the firm name was M. Darragh & Co. They were extensively engaged in the manufacture of machinery for wire works, and of iron bridges. They employed fifteen men the year round.
