General Notes: Husband - James Alcorn
He was born in Ireland, emigrated to America, and landing at what was then called New Castle [Dover, Delaware?], after an eleven weeks' voyage. He remained on the east side of the mountains in Penn-sylvania one winter, then came with his family to the area of Titusville, Crawford County, where he remained until 1811. In that year, he, with his family, wife and five children, settled in the north-western corner of Cherrytree Township, Venango County. He purchased near seven hundred acres of land of Titus & Kerr, and began improvements.
Another branch of the Alcorns had previously settled at Bethel, Pennsylvania.
He and his wife were originally buried in the old Alcorn Cemetery near their log cabin but "Jamie" Alcorn and Dr. Walter Small and others had the bodies moved to Fairview Cemetery and a new stone installed, July 27, 1965.
General Notes: Wife - Margaret McDowell
Her remains were originally interred in the Alcorn Cemetery and were later moved to Fairview.
