She was graduated from the State Normal School at Clarion, Pennsylvania, in 1892. She taught school at Conemaugh, Pennsylvania, Escanaba, Michigan, and Redlands, California. She gave up teaching for business in 1903, and became a member of the firm of Harley & Culbertson, ladies' furnishing store, 7 Valley St., Lewiston, Pennsylvania.
