General Notes: Husband - William Cottom
He attended the district public schools, and when a young man learned the trade of wagonmaker. He followed his trade in Tyrone township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, until late in life, when he retired to the town of Dawson. He was a member of the state militia, ranking as first lieutenant of the Fourth Company, Fifty-second Regiment of the Thirteenth Division, appointed in 1842 by Governor Porter. He was a Democrat in politics, and a member of the Methodist church.
