General Notes: Husband - William H. Cottom
Various sources give differing information about him and his father.
He was born in Maryland, and came to the Work farm, in Dunbar township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, in 1810. Five years later he moved to the mouth of Jacob's creek, and in 1822 removed to Lower Tyrone township, where he later died. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
He was born in the vicinity of Dunbar, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. During his long life he followed farming, thereby earning a comfortable livelihood. He attended the services of the Methodist Episcopal church of which he was a member.
He was born in Maryland, and was brought to Fayette County, Pennsylvania, by his parents, passing his early days on the farm. When he came to adult years he married and began married life on the Banning farm at the mouth of Jacob's creek, remaining there seven years. In 1838 he purchased a farm of one hundred acres in Lower Tyrone township, which he owned and cultivated until his death. He was a Democrat in politics, and belonged to the Methodist Episcopal church.

She was a grandniece of Martha (Dandridge) Curtis, widow of Colonel Daniel Curtis, and the wife of George Washington, first president of the United States.
