General Notes: Husband - Moses Lyle Cooke

was educated in the common schools of Smith Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, and at Duff 's Comercial College at Pittsburgh, after which he took charge of the farm when he was nineteen years old, and thereafter made it his home. Mr. Cooke either erected or put in repair all the buildings standing on the farm and made many improvements which added both to the appearance and value of the property. He grew excellent crops, making use of modern machinery and raised sufficient stock for his own use. He was a stockholder in the Washington National Bank at Burgettstown and at one time was one of the directors. In politics he was a Republican but took no very active interest and the only public office he ever accepted was that of school director. He and his family attended the Cross Creek Presbyterian Church.
