General Notes: Husband - John Cleeland
He learned the blacksmith's trade, and commenced business in a shop on the home farm, whence he removed to Portersville, PA, where he carried on business fourteen years. In 1854 he located in Perry township, Mercer County, where he conducted business until 1879, and then removed to Sandy Lake, and continued business at that point until March, 1892. At that time he retired from active life, and resided with his son, David L., of Butler. He was connected with the Whig and Republican parties. In religion, he was a Presbyterian, and one of the early members of the Portersville church.
