General Notes: Husband - David Cleeland
After remaining with his father upon the farm until his twenty-first year, he purchased a farm in Muddy Creek Town-ship, Butler County, Pennsylvania, and began life for himself in 1833.
He was born on his father's homestead in Muddy Creek township, Butler county, Pennsylvania. He received a good education, and taught in the schools of his native county for several years. In 1833 he purchased the farm upon which his son, Thomas J., would later reside, where he later died. He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian church of Portersville, in which society he filled the office of elder. He served as school director for a number of years, and also filled other offices in his town-ship.
