When his parents removed to western Pennsylvania, he remained in Dauphin County, purchased a large tract of land in Hanover township, and there resided during his life time.
He was one of the founders of the Harrisburg bank, and largely instrumental in the erection of the Harrisburg bridge. He was an officer in the volunteer force of 1812, and filled various local otfices. He was an elder in the Hanover church during the ministration of Rev. James Snodgrass, and was an earnest, zealous Christian.
