General Notes: Husband - Robert Leander Carter
He carried on farming and stock raising on a farm of 134 acres, in Mt. Pleasant Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, on which he resided, owning a second farm, containing 164 acres, which was situated in the same township, near Primrose.
He attended the Cherry Valley district school, later Hickory Academy, and then turned his attention to the management of his two farms. Following his marriage in 1903 he lived on the family homestead for four years and then came to another farm, placing a tenant on the previous one. He had 120 acres of this farm in a highly cultivated condition. He devoted a large amount of attention to the breeding of registered Holstein cattle.
He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian Church. He was identified with the Republican party.
