General Notes: Husband - Grant Cathcart

He obtained his education in his native township, mainly at the Turkey Hill school, and afterward became his father's assistant on the home farm, where he always lived with the exception of two years following his marriage, when he resided at Glen Hope. He carried on general farming and stockraising. He owned a valuable property containing 110 acres, which was situated one mile east of Olanta, near Turkey Hill, which was part of the old homestead.
He and his family attended the Methodist Episcopal church. In politics he was an Independent Republican, but he never consented to hold any township office. He was an interested member of the Grange, Patrons of Husbandry.
