She was well known to lovers of verse. She wrote under the pen name of "Aunt Hattie," articles for glrls, which appeared in Arthur's Home Magazine, and published many poems from 1850 to 1870 in Godey's Ladies Book, the Ladies Repository, the Cleveland Leader, the Enterprise and newspapers in all parts of the country.
