General Notes: Husband - John Findlay Torrence
He was educated in the public school and Chambersburg Academy. For four years he was employed by the H. C. Frick Coke Company in the engineering department. He then became engaged in the coal business, and in 1905 was one of the organizers of the Perry Manufacturing Company, of Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, of which he was chosen secretary. This company mined sand and clay, manufacturing wall plaster, brick and tile roofing. Mr. Torrence retained his interest in the Perry Company, and had coal mines and undeveloped property in West Virginia. He was a Republican and an Episcopalian.
