General Notes: Husband - Alvin A. I. Caldwell
He received a common school education, and then learned the painter's trade. In 1872 he moved to Ohio, where he enlisted in the regular army. While stationed at Los Pinos, Colorado, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He died after four years of service, in which he helped to suppress the Indians during several outbreaks.
