He was born in Sandy Lake Twp, Mercer Co, PA. [HMC 1888, 1056]
He went to school for only ten weeks; in 1858 he purchased a farm in Worth Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, later occupied by Jacob Bixler. He remained on this farm until his death. He was a Republican and a member of the Fairview Methodist Episcopal church.
He served durning the War of 1812.
General Notes: Wife - Nancy Carmichael
